The holidays are starting in NRW – peak season for airberlin

This weekend, the summer holidays begin in North Rhine-Westphalia. airberlin expects around 54,000 passengers at Dusseldorf Airport alone. Of these, around 17 percent will be transit passengers using Dusseldorf as a hub. Most transit passengers are coming from New York, Zurich and Hamburg. On average there are 1,102 departures and arrivals each week during the summer season. In Dusseldorf, the busiest days are the Friday and Sunday on the first weekend of the holidays, with around 18,300 passengers heading off on their summer holidays with airberlin. For flights within Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Monday and Friday are the busiest days.

The top destination for airberlin passengers this summer is Italy with Bologna. Long-haul routes to the USA are in high demand. airberlin is the largest provider of flights to North America from North Rhine-Westphalia. In May, the airline added a connection to Orlando to its existing routes to Boston, Fort Myers, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco. The Caribbean island of Curacao is also particularly popular with passengers from the Netherlands. Cuba is more popular than ever before: the flight schedules to Havanna and Varadero perfectly complement one another so that both destinations can be combined into a single trip and the diversity of Cuba experienced to the full.
