Additional benefits for business travellers at airberlin

  • business points can be converted into topbonus award miles
  • earn an award flight faster with airberlin business points
  • Economy Light fare once again in the flight counter to reach status levels

From now on, frequent flyers benefit from new advantages at airberlin and their partner airlines. Participants in the business points programme for small- and medium-sized companies can collect points for every flight with airberlin, Etihad Airways and Etihad Airways Partners (EAP). Soon it will be possible to also convert these points into miles for the topbonus frequent flyer programme. One point corresponds to 15 topbonus award miles.

The benefit for airberlin passengers: business points and topbonus miles can be collected at the same time on every flight. topbonus offers its members numerous opportunities to redeem their miles. This includes award flights, upgrades to Business Class or an XL seat/Preferred Seat for a more comfortable business trip, as well as a wide selection of vouchers and merchandise awards in the topbonus reward shop.

In addition, the number of points required in the business points programme for an award flight on European routes has been reduced. Now only 400 points are required as opposed to 1,000. ‘Around 20,000 medium-sized companies already use our business points programme. With this programme relaunch, that number will increase. By extending the Business Class to all airberlin flights, we have reinforced our position in the business travel segment over the past few months,’ said Götz Ahmelmann, Chief Commercial Officer at airberlin.

On short- & medium-haul flights, airberlin offers the inexpensive Economy Light fare. Until now, flights in this fare did not count in the so-called ‘flight counter’ to reach the relevant topbonus status level. ‘Since our loyal members had a strong desire to use this fare on their short- and medium-haul flights, we added it back into the flight counter to reach and maintain the topbonus status level,’ said Anton Lill, CEO of topbonus Ltd. This means that all airberlin fares will now be taken into account for this type of status qualification.
